Püha Maad moslemite käest vabastama läinud ristisõdijad said kohalikega ühiseid järeltulijaid, kuid nende geneetiline pärand kadus elanikkonnast juba õige pea, viitab Liibanoni massihauast leitud üheksast skeletist eraldatud pärilikkusaine analüüs.

Mõne aasta leidsid Liibanonis Sidoni linnas väljakaevamisi teinud arheoloogid samast ajastust pärit massihauast 25 mehe säilmed, kirjutab ERR Novaator.

Koljudel ja teistel luudel nähtud vigastuste põhjal olid surnud neist kõik vägivaldselt. Karmile kohtlemisele vaatamata õnnestus eraldada rahvusvahelisel töörühmal mõnedest koljudest piisavas koguses pärilikkusainet, et öelda midagi toona surnud inimeste põlvnemise kohta.

«Genoomika näitab meile, et ristisõdijad tulid Lääna-Euroopast ja värbasid lahinguteks kohalikke Lähis-Idas elavaid inimesi. Ristisõdijad ja lähis-idalased elasid, võitlesid ja surid külg-külje kõrval,» märkis Wellcome Sangeri instituudi evolutsioonigeneetik Chris Tyler-Smith tööd kirjeldavas pressiteates.

Uuring ilmus teadusajakirjas American Journal of Human Genetics.
